A well-known bakery is expanding its footprint in New Jersey, inking a new 10-year lease for a retail location in downtown Newark.
According to JLL, which represented the landlord, Zaro’s Family Bakery will occupy 2,285 square feet at what’s known as The Shoppes on Broad. The space at 635 Broad St., part of a 50,000-square-foot property, will serve as its third New Jersey location.
“Despite complications and delays caused by the pandemic, Newark residents, workers and visitors will now be able to enjoy the products of this beloved family-owned bakery,” said Marta Villa, a senior vice president with JLL. “This transaction demonstrates the enduring appeal of this high-traffic location.”
In a news release, JLL noted that Zaro’s is an 85-year-old family-owned and -operated bakery with 11 stores in the New York metropolitan area. Its newest location sits within a mixed-use environment served by daytime office and university populations, as well as a growing stock of apartments in the downtown.
