The newest Urby-branded apartment tower in Hudson County has topped out in Jersey City’s Journal Square section, with less than a year to go until the completion of the 317-unit building.
Located at 575 Pavonia Ave., the 25-story project has reached its apex of 265 feet on a parcel that sits across from the Journal Square PATH Station. Its developer said the property remains on track to be delivered next spring, offering a mix of homes ranging from studio to three-bedroom apartments and amenities such as an integrated café in the lobby, a modern gym with an attached yoga studio and stretching area and a host of indoor and outdoor features on the 25th floor.
Journal Square Urby will be the seventh Urby location to open nationwide and the second in Jersey City, following the 2017 debut of a 69-story property in the city’s Harborside district.
“We are excited to share the construction progress at Journal Square Urby and look forward to opening our second Urby location in Jersey City,” said David Barry, founder and CEO of Urby. “Journal Square Urby will offer the unique shared spaces and inspired design that define the Urby brand, while also creating an intimate boutique environment for residents to connect with one another and the culturally rich neighborhood.”
In announcing the milestone, Urby said the tower will also have a roof garden with a pool, work-from-home spaces and uninterrupted views of the Manhattan skyline. The developer added that the building design by Concrete, which worked alongside executive architect HLW, will look to complement the existing neighborhood scale at the street level while providing a visually dynamic tower that breaks out into three distinct masses.
Landscape architect Bureau Bas Smets, which was recently awarded the commission for the grounds of the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, designed Journal Square Urby’s outdoor spaces, according to a news release. Urby has also commissioned a significant mural on the side of the building by Felipe Pantone, an Argentinian-Spanish artist whose work deals with dynamism, transformation, digital revolution and themes related to the present times.
