A famous New York City delicatessen has leased nearly 30,000 square feet of industrial space in Carlstadt, which it will use in part to support its new online delivery business.
In a news release, NAI James E. Hanson announced that it represented Katz’s Delicatessen in securing the new location, identified by outside reports as 100 Industrial Road. The real estate services firm said the eatery, which has operated on the Lower East Side since 1888, will use the space to both support its landmark store and ship products directly to customers around the globe.
NAI Hanson’s Steve Leitner represented the tenant in the 29,770-square-foot transaction. The landlord, 100 Group Ind. LLC, was represented by Scott Belfer and Kevin Dudley of CBRE.
Katz’s, which is located at 205 East Houston St., was seeking a space with direct access to New York City and major arteries to the west to house its offices, warehousing and distribution operations, the news release said. Its new home is part of a 145,000-square-foot industrial building with quick access to the New Jersey Turnpike and other major highways.
“Well-known, established institutions like Katz’s Delicatessen are recognizing the opportunity presented by e-commerce to continue to grow their customer base and find new ways to expand,” Leitner said. “The Bergen County industrial market presents an ideal location for New York City based businesses to expand due to the proximity to both the City and major highways running through the region.
“This lease will enable Katz’s Delicatessen to continue to grow their business and ship their products all over the world to bring authentic New York City culinary experience to people near and far.”
