A new 62,000-square-foot ShopRite is coming to Staten Island as part of a deal arranged by North Plainfield-based Levin Management Corp., the firm announced this week.
In a news release, LMC said the grocery store will anchor the 100,000-square-foot Evergreen Plaza in the borough’s Great Kills section, backfilling a space once occupied by SuperFresh. Mannix Family Markets will operate the new store at 150 Greaves Lane, which is slated to open this fall, expanding a footprint that includes ShopRite locations in the Graniteville, New Dorp and Charleston neighborhoods.
LMC represented the landlord in the lease with Wakefern Food Corp., the retailer-owned supermarket cooperative.
“We have worked with Wakefern and a number of its members for decades, and we are pleased to see their continued expansion of state-of-the-art supermarkets into prime locations in key markets,” said Joseph Lowry, senior vice president of acquisitions and business development with Levin. “Whether it’s grocery or any sought-after category, our 70-plus years of collaboration with established brands is a value-add for property owners looking to fill vacancies, drive shopper traffic, bolster property image and, most importantly, significantly enhance asset value.”
He added: “The local community has long benefitted from the convenience of having a supermarket anchor at Evergreen Plaza. It is welcome news for area residents that ShopRite has chosen to locate here.”
