McCarter & English LLP has announced new co-chairs of its real estate practice group, including a longtime partner in its headquarters office in Newark.
The partner, Simone Wilson-Brito, will co-lead the firm’s real estate practice alongside Cynthia Keliher, who is based in its Boston office. Wilson-Brito has been with McCarter for nearly 10 years, with a practice that focuses on complex commercial real estate transactions and a concentration in financing, leasing and acquisition of real property.
In a news release, the firm also said Wilson-Brito represents lenders and borrowers in commercial and construction loans and purchasers in the acquisition and disposition of real estate. She is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee and the Women’s Initiative Steering Committee, while also representing, pro bono, individuals seeking asylum in the United States.
Her new role as co-chair of the real estate group was among four leadership changes announced by McCarter to start the month. The firm also said Amy Haberman will lead the labor and employment practice group, while Moy Ogilvie will serve as the Hartford office managing partner.
With the recent changes, seven of the firm’s 11 practice groups are led by women.
“Cynthia, Simone, Amy and Moy served as leaders in our business and mentors to associates for many years,” said Joseph Boccassini, the firm’s managing partner. “I know they will continue to represent our clients well in their new roles with the same focus and dedication.”
Keliher joined McCarter in 2006, the news release said. Her practice addresses all aspects of commercial real estate, with a focus on representing landlords and tenants in complex ground, retail, office and data center leases.
She is president of the New England Chapter of CoreNet Global, an association of corporate real estate professionals and is the co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative Steering Committee.
