Bubble tea chain Gong Cha has leased 1,050 square feet of retail space at the base of a newly renovated building in Hackensack, according to NAI James E. Hanson.
Anthony Cassano, a vice president with the brokerage firm, represented both parties in the deal at 210 Main St. Gong Cha is leasing the space from 210 Main Urban Renewal/Hackensack Investors LLC, which has repurposed the nearly 100-year-old former bank headquarters to create 126 luxury apartments and 4,500 square feet of ground-level retail.
Gong Cha is the first retail tenant signed at the property, which is close to Hackensack’s downtown redevelopment zone and its restaurants, shops and entertainment options. The building is also easily accessible to Hackensack University Medical Center, the Shops at Riverside, the Bergen County Courthouse and routes 4 and 46 and Interstate 80.
Established in Taiwan in 1996, Gong Cha is an international beverage franchise specializing in freshly prepared bubble tea and has opened over 1,650 cafes in 20 countries.
“Hackensack’s continued redevelopment continues to present a great opportunity for retail tenants hoping to tap into one of the state’s fastest-growing cities,” Cassano said. “With thousands of residential units coming online over the next several years and critical infrastructure improvements already underway, we are excited to continue to work closely with landlords to help them bring high-quality tenants to properties like 210 Main Street across the city.”
