A developer has opened the doors to a new Walmart Supercenter in Linden, the first piece of a planned 350,000-square-foot shopping center along Route 1 and 9.
The builder, Cypress Equities, announced the debut of the new 185,682-square-foot store at the intersection of Edgar Road and Pleasant Street. The firm will now turn its focus to a 161,000-square-foot second phase at what’s known as Legacy Square, with plans calling for construction to begin in early 2020.
“We are pleased to announce the opening of the first phase of Legacy Square,” Cypress Equities CEO Chris Maguire said. “Anchored by the latest Walmart Supercenter prototype, this retail center will provide retail and restaurant concepts in a new and refreshing format to the community.”
Cypress has also signed leases at the site with LA Fitness, Chick-Fil-A, Taco Bell and Hook & Reel, while it has sold an adjacent pad for a Holiday Inn Express Hotel that is now under construction.
