A developer has added to its growing portfolio of gas and convenience store projects with the completion of a new QuickChek location in Somerset County.
The Wyckoff-based firm, Coremark Group, recently marked the opening of the property at 950 Route 22 East in North Plainfield. Located at the corner of Maple Avenue, the development includes a new 4,900-square-foot store and an eight-bay service area that will serve residents, other businesses and commuters on the busy highway.
Jordan Liebowitz and Brian Wasilenko of Landmark Real Estate represented the developer in the lease with QuickChek, a Readington-based chain with more than 150 stores in New Jersey. The North Plainfield location occupies the former site of the well-known Somerset Farms food store and garden center, while it is the latest new retail offering along the thoroughfare.
For Coremark, the project follows two other recently completed QuickChek stores in Howell and Hackensack. It is the firm’s fifth gas and convenience store development and the 10th project it has completed since 2014, with a focus on single-tenant buildings and shopping centers anchored by credit convenience, pharmacy and bank operators.
The developer is also pursuing similar projects throughout northern and central New Jersey. In East Brunswick, it has plans for a new convenience store and service station concept at 215 Route 18 South, at the corner of Ruth Street, which has approvals from the township zoning board.
It expects to start demolition and site work by the first quarter of 2019.
