A fitness operator and a burger chain that is expanding into New Jersey will be among the newest tenants in downtown Newark, following leases brokered by Pierson Commercial.
The retail real estate services firm said Arrival Fitness, a CrossFit operator, has leased 2,860 square feet at 91 Halsey St. Ryan Starkman of Englishtown-based Pierson Commercial represented the landlord, while Peter Politi of JLL represented the tenant.
In the second transaction, Elevation Burger has leased 1,875 square feet for a new franchise location at 87 Halsey St. The space will be the first New Jersey location for the Falls Church, Virginia-based fast casual chain, which was founded in 2005 and began franchising in 2008.
Starkman also represented ownership in the lease at 87 Halsey St., which sits just a block west of Broad Street and Prudential Financial Inc.’s new 20-story office tower. The street also benefits from Newark’s University Heights section and other ongoing redevelopment.
“The unique positioning of the Halsey Street corridor within the interior of downtown Newark provides these tenants with an opportunity to reach every potential customer market segment within the city, from the office population of Prudential, to the student body of Rutgers and local Newark residents all within a short walk,” Starkman said.
