A fitness chain has debuted its ninth location in New Jersey and its first in Middlesex County, following a recently announced 38,000-square-foot lease by Pierson Commercial.
The retail brokerage firm, which served as the tenant broker, announced that 24 Hour Fitness has opened its doors at 1624 St. George Ave. in the Avenel section of Woodbridge. The new super sport club has taken a portion of a former Pathmark space at the shopping center, offering cardio equipment, free weights, group cycling and exercise and an indoor lap pool.
Ryan Starkman and Jason Pierson of Pierson Commercial represented 24 Hour Fitness, while Mike Testa of Jeffery Realty represented the landlord.
“We are excited for our first location to officially open in Middlesex County, within a market that we believe will not only service Woodbridge, but the surrounding communities of Rahway, Colonia and Carteret,” Pierson Commercial said in a prepared statement. “This new club opening strategically locates 24 Hour Fitness for our continued expansion in central and northern New Jersey.
“We have several more clubs in the development pipeline and actively looking for new opportunities within the market.”
The facility, which opened Dec. 15, also features a kids club, an Olympic training rig, a personal training area, a practice basketball court and a host of other offerings, Pierson said. The San Ramon, California-based chain says it is opening one new location every few weeks.
