J.G. Petrucci Co. Inc. has welcomed Playa Bowls to a ground-floor retail space at The Station at East Orange, a 172-unit luxury apartment complex that opened its doors last year.
The superfruit bowl and smoothie shop is leasing 1,924 square feet at the midrise property, located at 384 East Williams St., where both residents and patrons are less than a half-mile from NJ Transit’s East Orange station. Asbury-based Petrucci, which owns and operates the multifamily property, also completed the construction improvements through its in-house firm, Iron Hill Construction Management.
“We’re excited to join the East Orange community and serve our signature smoothie bowls in this convenient, vibrant location,” said Lamar McCloud, the franchise owner for Playa Bowls in East Orange. “We’ve seen incredible enthusiasm for our concept, and we’re confident Playa Bowls will bring a fresh, enjoyable experience to the neighborhood.”

In a news release, Petrucci noted that the Playa Bowls is tapping into the growing demand for superfruit bowls, smoothies and cold brew. It’ll do so in a location that’s within walking distance of a bustling shopping district, as it provides a convenient, healthy snack and meal option for residents.
The developer added that the new space includes custom millwork with a beach theme, along with artistic murals and signage.
“When completing this tenant fit-out, we worked closely with Playa Bowls to ensure we maintained their vibrant, beach-inspired aesthetic,” said Dominick Baker, project executive at Petrucci. “We’re excited to see how it enhances the retail experience within the complex.”
