PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
PREMIER Design + Build Group is nearing completion on a highly specialized cold storage and office facility in Hauppauge, N.Y., for Stonemont Financial and tenant GlacierPoint Enterprises. The new development features a 34,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse, nearly 9,000 square feet of office space and a full-service loading dock designed to support GlacierPoint’s robust distribution operations.
Cold storage facilities require far more technical precision than standard warehouses, and PREMIER is leveraging its national expertise in temperature-controlled construction to meet those demands. To ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency, the team is installing a glycol underfloor heating system layered beneath the freezer slab. The system includes a three-inch-thick mat slab, a vapor barrier, six inches of insulation and a seven-inch concrete topping slab to prevent subgrade freezing and maintain temperature stability.
Rather than traditional precast or tilt-up panels, the building envelope will be constructed with high-performance insulated metal panels to boost the overall R-value. The roof will feature nine inches of insulation, and the space will be outfitted with advanced mechanical systems for heating, cooling and humidity control, as well as a specialized racking system to support cold storage operations.
