Developers are proposing to build a 52-story, 750-unit high-rise in downtown Jersey City that would include a new public school at what is now a parking lot, a published report said.
The report by The Jersey Journal said the project, which is slated to cost around $364 million, is proposed for a site at Columbus Drive and Washington Street. Representatives for the developers, L+M Development Partners and Low-Income Housing Corp., are scheduled to appear before the city council this week seeking a 25-year tax abatement.
If approved, construction would start in July and take about two and a half years, The Jersey Journal said. Plans ultimately call for a 200-student facility for pre-k, kindergarten and first grade students, while including 37 affordable units among its 750 apartments.
