Rockefeller Group has named a new leader of its development team in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, tapping a former Prologis market officer to fill the role.

The developer announced that it has hired Mark Shearer as a senior vice president and regional development officer for the New Jersey and Pennsylvania region. Shearer, a 30-year veteran of commercial real estate, will be based in the firm’s Morristown office and manage a portfolio that includes major projects in Piscataway, Edison, Florham Park and the Lehigh Valley.
“We are delighted to welcome Mark Shearer to Rockefeller Group,” said Brandi Hanback, the company’s executive vice president of industrial development. “He is a strong addition to our leadership team and to the New Jersey/Pennsylvania region as we continue to execute on large-scale existing projects and identify future development opportunities.”
Rockefeller touted Shearer’s deep expertise in the industry and his recent role as a senior vice president with Prologis and its market officer in New Jersey and New York, where he managed one of the market’s largest industrial real estate portfolios. During his time with the company, he oversaw more than 34 million square feet of industrial property and developed 1.8 million square feet of build-to-suit and speculative space.
Shearer will now lead a team that has several high-profile projects underway, including a 2.1 million-square-foot industrial campus in Piscataway.
“I’m thrilled to be leading development operations for Rockefeller Group at what is a very exciting and active time for both the company and for the broader New Jersey and Lehigh Valley commercial real estate markets,” Shearer said. “Rockefeller Group is a world-class organization known for its forward-thinking, talented roster of professionals, and I look forward to joining our strong team in the region and growing our development pipeline.”
Prior to his work in the New York and New Jersey region, Shearer held the same position at Prologis in the Mid-Atlantic region, managing a 15-million-square-foot industrial portfolio in Maryland, North and South Carolina and Virginia, according to a news release. He previously was a vice president with AMB Property Corp., operating an 8 million-square-foot industrial portfolio in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Shearer’s other past positions include vice president for NAI/KLNB Management, where he managed an 18 million-square-foot portfolio of retail, office and industrial assets for institutional clients and high-net-worth individuals. He has also worked for the Mid-Atlantic-based companies Manekin LLC, Corporate Office Properties Trust and KLNB Management Services.
The longtime industry executive is a NAIOP New Jersey chapter trustee. He holds a bachelor’s in finance from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland.
