Seagis Property Group has appointed veteran commercial real estate executive Omer Mir Ahmed as its chief development officer.
Ahmed, who is based in East Rutherford, joined the Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based firm in September 2015 as its senior vice president of development. Since then, he has overseen $400 million in development of newly built warehouse and distribution facilities and is responsible for the oversight of the company’s $300 million development pipeline.
“Omer’s appointment as our chief development officer is very well-earned,” Seagis CEO John Begier said. “We started the company in 2005 as buyers of existing buildings and since his arrival in 2015 our development platform has become an integral part of our business. His unique expertise in taking complex properties and transforming them into new warehouse developments has significantly enhanced our portfolio.”
Ahmed, who spent nearly a decade with Russo Development, is also a NAIOP New Jersey trustee and an active member of the commercial real estate development association. Seagis’ most recent transactions in New Jersey include its purchase of a vacant 30,058-square-foot warehouse at 25 Amor Ave. in Carsltadt that it’s slated to renovate, seeking to capitalize on a location near the New Jersey Turnpike and the region’s vast highway network.
