The Alban Group has named a new partner and executive vice president to lead the construction firm after more than 30 years under the guidance of the late Tim Zerka.
Based in Newark, the business said Tammy Smith has taken the reins as it looks to continue to grow its pipeline of high-end commercial and residential projects, according to a news release. Specializing in lobbies and hallway renovations, it’s currently involved in multiple projects across the tristate area and is looking to expand its footprint even further.
The announcement comes after Smith spearheaded Alban Group’s recent move from its longtime home in Kenilworth.
“Our new space is more centrally located for our NYC clients,” she said. “The state-of-the art space really showcases the firm’s ability to build-out unique and complex designs, regardless of any space confinements.”
In its announcement, the firm noted it uses in-house personnel and has expanded its capabilities with multiple new hires in the fourth quarter as demand increased.
“Talent is key,” said Tim Shaw, one of Alban’s project managers, who is an engineer by trade and works with contractors, clients and architects to make sure jobs are completed to exceed design specifications. “We guarantee our clients a very high-level work product, so we are thrilled to have such high-level employees to match.”
Adrian Zerka, Tim Zerka’s son, has expanded the Alban Group with a new real estate acquisitions group, the news release said, with a focus on Newark. The Alban Group has several multi-unit renovation projects in Newark that are set to be complete in the second quarter.
“My father taught me everything I know about real estate,” Adrian Zerka said, “and I am thrilled to apply the knowledge he passed down to me.”
