More than 200 industry leaders and influencers turned out recently for a Rutgers Center for Real Estate conference on the new federal Opportunity Zone program.
The Oct. 29 event, which took place at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, included a Q&A with U.S. Sen. Cory Booker and a wide-ranging panel discussion on the high-profile federal incentive, which provides major tax benefits for investors who place capital in distressed and low-income areas. New Jersey has 169 census tracts that qualify as Opportunity Zones and allow developers to tap into the program.
