Spencer Savings Bank has named a new senior vice president, who will spearhead efforts to lead and execute strategic growth strategies.

The Elmwood Park-based lender announced Thursday that Ryan Peene has joined its team as senior vice president and director of market growth and development. He brings more than a decade of banking and public affairs experience, most recently serving as senior vice president of government banking and corporate development at SB One Bank.
“We are pleased to welcome Ryan to the Spencer team,” said George Celentano, senior vice president and head of retail banking at Spencer. “His relationships and experience in the government and commercial banking arenas complement the bank’s existing growth strategies and will position us for continued success. In addition to this, he is deeply committed to giving back to the communities he serves and has spent time on numerous boards of business and community-based organizations. He is going to make a great addition to the Spencer team.”
Prior to SB One, Peene worked as a consultant at MBI GluckShaw Public Affairs, one of New Jersey’s largest public affairs firms. He is a recent 40 Under 40 honoree by NJBIZ and is currently a director with Greater Bergen Community Action, while also serving on the Rutgers Business School Center for Real Estate’s Emerging Leaders board.
In addition, Peene is an honorary member of the Hudson County Chiefs of Police Association, a former commissioner and vice chairman of the Hoboken planning board and former member of the New Jersey Council on Local Mandates. He holds a master’s degree in nonprofit business administration from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business and a bachelor’s in political science from Rutgers University.
In 2018, Peene graduated from American Bankers Association’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking in partnership with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Upper Saddle River with his wife and three daughters.
