A joint venture has added to Bayonne’s fast-growing stock of luxury apartments, unveiling a 91-unit property about a block from the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.
Local officials joined building ownership and management last week to mark the opening of Bay One Apartments, an 11-story building with studio, one- and two-bedroom homes at 957 Broadway. For many, it was a first look at what is now the tallest residential building in the immediate area, which offers a host of amenities and easy access to nearby businesses.
The Bay One ownership team includes Gary DeBode of Gallium Real Estate, Lance Lucarelli and Joseph Lucarelli of The L Group, Gary Romaniello of GRA Equities and John Cali and Jason Cali of Cali Futures.
“Today we celebrate not only the opening of our building, but also the growth of the surrounding Bayonne community,” said Kate Regan, manager at Bay One Apartments. “With the support of Greystar Management, our focus is strongly rooted in the success of our lease up while also contributing to the success of Bayonne small businesses and promoting the value of our surrounding residential community. Our residents will live, work and play in Bayonne, and we will continue to make it a priority to include our local community in our everyday operations.”
In a news release, the developers touted Bay One’s proximity to restaurants and retailers, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and several local parks. The building is about a block west of Route 440, providing easy access to the New Jersey Turnpike.
Ownership also pointed to the property’s concrete construction, which allowed for a taller building and will reduce noise within each home. Amenities include an 8,000-square-foot rooftop garden, which features seating and grilling and dining areas, while providing panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, New York Harbor, Newark Bay and the Statue of Liberty.
“We were an early investor in this project as we believed there was significant demand for a best-in-class luxury apartment complex right in the heart of Bayonne,” Romaniello said. “Our team is thrilled to see this project come to fruition and we look forward to making further investments in this beautiful Gold Coast community of New Jersey.”
Other amenities include three levels of indoor and outdoor space with unlimited access for residents, along with 6,000 square feet of indoor lounge areas with co-working space, conference rooms, a screening room and a children’s play area, the news release said. The building also boasts a modern, 2,000-square-foot gym with on-demand virtual fitness programs, spin bikes and dedicated yoga and HIIT rooms.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone that is a part of this project,” Bayonne Mayor James Davis said. “This is the project that got everything started. Once we got it passed and they broke ground, it proved to everybody else around the area, especially the developers, that the city of Bayonne was moving forward.”
