The site of a shuttered restaurant in Evesham Township is set to become a cannabis dispensary after changing hands last month for $2.3 million, in a deal arranged by A.J. Sussman Co.
According to a news release, the undisclosed buyer has already secured a license to retrofit and operate the facility at 601 Route 70 West in the township’s Marlton section. The business will mark a new chapter for what was a landmark local eatery known as the Mexican Food Factory, which operated for some 40 years inside the recognizable 3,800-square-foot building.
A.J. Sussman Principal Alan Sussman represented the buyer, touting the $605-per-square-foot sale price, while attorney Richard Freedman of Cherry Hill represented the seller. The deal closed on Feb. 7.
“Having lived and worked in South Jersey since 1985, I cannot count the number of times I passed by and frequented the Mexican Food Factory,” Sussman said. “It was a transaction that took a bit longer than some but, in the end, the two parties were pleased with the result. I am proud to have helped make it happen.”
