Fast-casual restaurant Sweetgreen has opened at the M Station campus in Morristown, marking the debut of the first retail tenant at the high-profile development by SJP Properties.
The eatery, whose health-conscious menu centers on salads and bowls, occupies 2,624 square feet at 110 Morris St. It’s now open at the base of what’s known as M Station East, the home of Deloitte LLP and the first of two office and retail buildings at the downtown property.
The space is Sweetgreen’s sixth New Jersey location.
“Sweetgreen is a staple in the quick-service restaurant sector,” said Alexander Erdos, SJP Properties’ senior vice president for leasing and development. “We are thrilled to continue to elevate the food and beverage offerings in Morristown, delivering high-caliber options to residents and companies in town.”
SJP and partner Scotto Properties announced earlier this year that it had topped out M Station’s second phase, a 260,000-square-foot building that will house Sanofi’s U.S. headquarters, with completion slated for early 2025. It’s rising alongside the 110,000-square-foot first phase, where Sweetgreen was slated to host a grand opening ceremony with a flower bar, local ice cream and a coffee bar.
The operator is also supporting the community on its opening day by partnering with nourish.NJ, a Morristown-based nonprofit that combats hunger, homelessness and poverty. For every meal purchased on June 25, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to nourish.NJ.
“M Station is a strategically significant location for Sweetgreen,” Erdos said. “The company recognized the benefit of locating at the property, which brings a combined workforce of 3,000 professionals to Morristown with Deloitte’s New Jersey headquarters at M Station East and Sanofi’s New Jersey flagship at M Station West, as well as the pedestrian traffic along the M Station public promenade. The property has elevated daytime foot traffic along the Morris Street corridor substantially. We look forward to joining Sweetgreen on June 25th for a day of celebration and giving back.”
