A longtime New Jersey retail broker has returned to CBRE.
Marta Person Villa, who joins the real estate services firm as a senior vice president, comes to the role with more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience. She most recently was with JLL, where she maintained a strong presence in Newark and other markets while representing a host of prominent owners and tenants in the state.
“It is particularly gratifying to welcome back yet another successful and seasoned professional to the CBRE team,” said Jeffrey Hipschman, senior managing director of the firm’s New Jersey operations. “Marta will be an instrumental part of our retail practice as we continue to grow and serve the constantly evolving requirements of owners and retailers, especially during these challenging times brought on by the pandemic.”
CBRE announced the new hire on Friday, noting that Villa has brokered noteworthy deals such as the sale of an 11-acre site in Wall Township to Mega Holdings LLC, which developed the parcel into a 60,000-square-foot, grocery-anchored center on Route 35. She has represented owners in a range of retail settings, with landlord clients including Transformco and SJP Properties and tenant clients including Trek Bikes, West Marine, Fulton Bank, Sky Zone, Carvana and Tempur-Pedic.
The firm also noted that Villa has completed more than 50 retail leases in Newark. Prior to her career in retail, Villa spent nearly 20 years in urban redevelopment and downtown revitalization, working directly for municipalities and nonprofits. As an administrator for the borough of Red Bank, she was credited with contributing to the revitalization of an area that was named “Hip Town” by New Jersey Monthly Magazine.
Villa earned a bachelor’s from the University of Richmond and is a licensed real estate broker in New Jersey. She is a member of ICSC and served as the private-sector co-chair of the ICSC Alliance for New Jersey from 2010 to 2013.
She is also a member of USA Field Hockey and U.S. Figure Skating.
