Two new tenants have taken space at a historic commercial building in Jersey City, under a set of newly completed leases by Grid Real Estate.
The larger user, New Jersey Reentry Corp., is taking 6,500 square feet at the Spingarn Arcade Building at 591 Summit Ave. Grid said the nonprofit social services agency will occupy the sixth floor of the nearly 100-year-old property, part of the city’s Journal Square neighborhood.
Gregory D. Edgell, an agent with the Jersey City-based brokerage, represented both parties. He also completed a 600-square-foot retail lease with Cloud Depot, a Newark-based vape shop.
“These transactions exemplify our boutique process at Grid,” Edgell said. “Working both with expanding small businesses out of Newark and state nonprofits we were able to service our landlords and these vastly different types of tenants, getting everyone to the finish line.
“Additionally, I believe strongly in the program and opportunities that New Jersey Reentry provides and feel like there will be a positive ripple effect coming out of journal square for years to come.”
In a news release, Grid noted that NJRC’s mission is to remove all barriers to employment for citizens returning from jail or prison. Its services include linking clients to addiction, structured sober housing, job training and employment, driver licenses restoration, legal services and health care.
