Urban Edge Properties has signed Aldi to a long-term commitment for more than 23,000 square feet at Greenbrook Commons in Watchung, completing the center’s lease-up.
Jeffery Realty’s Bill Farkas and Mike Testa represented the real estate investment trust in the deal at the Route 22 property, which serves the densely populated communities of Berkeley Heights, Plainfield, and Scotch Plains, Warren and Gillette. The 23,498-square-foot transaction is among two leases this year between Urban Edge and the supermarket chain, the landlord said, adding that it has four Aldi stores in its portfolio.
“Bringing Aldi to Greenbrook Commons completes the leasing of a centrally located center with strong community demand,” said Leigh Lyons, senior vice president of leasing at Urban Edge. “Aldi is a terrific tenant for our grocery-anchored centers and we look forward to partnering with them as they continue to grow and expand their footprint in the markets in our portfolio.”
Aldi is expected to open in 2023, according to a news release. It will join other tenants at Greenbrook Commons including BJ’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Qdoba, Chase Bank and Vitamin Shoppe.
