Walters has awarded a combined $8,000 in scholarships to four graduating seniors from Ocean County, continuing a long-running program by the Barnegat-based developer.
According to the firm, this year’s recipients include Luke Maggion and Jacob King of Southern Regional High School and Barnegat High School’s Joseph Bacskai and Devin Connors. They’re now among 51 local students to receive scholarships under the program since Ed Walters Jr., founder and partner, established it in memory of his father, Edward M. Walters Sr.
To date, the firm has provided more than $100,000 in funds.

“It’s rewarding to recognize these exceptional high school seniors as they pursue their future goals,” said Walters, an Ocean County native who graduated from Southern Regional High School. “Giving back through education has always been a meaningful part of our commitment to the community.”
Walters supports a wide range of organizations and initiatives as part of its corporate mission, according to a news release. That has included the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, hurricane relief efforts, Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, the Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company and the Barnegat and Stafford girls softball leagues.
