The first residential development at the repositioned Fort Monmouth property is nearly sold out, according to the team of RPM Development Group and CB New Homes of Madison.
Known as East Gate, the property includes 68 townhomes and single-family detached units within the Oceanport section of the former U.S. Army base. The remaining inventory is part of a century-old, attached section of dwellings known as Officer’s Row, which RPM has restored.
Prices for the three-bedroom homes start in the upper $700,000s.
“The success of East Gate validates Fort Monmouth as one of the area’s highly desirable residential addresses,” said Michael Hong, vice president of development for RPM. “It’s unquestionably one of the most unique community settings in the Monmouth County market and the infrastructure provided the perfect canvas to create a beautiful neighborhood that mixed homes of great distinction and old-world charm with gorgeously landscaped grounds and streetscapes.”
East Gate is part of a sweeping effort to redevelop the 1,126-acre fort property, which includes parts of Oceanport, Tinton Falls and Eatontown. RPM has worked with Palermo Edwards Architecture to remodel the buildings’ interiors, creating new two- and three-story homes with high-end kitchens and bathrooms and luxury interior finishes.
Fort Monmouth was closed by the military in 2011 as part of a federal base realignment. Led by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority, or FMERA, the state has overseen efforts to reposition the property and has several a long list of commercial and residential projects moving through its pipeline.
