Two additional retail tenants are coming to a new mixed-use project that has transformed 35 acres in the South Jersey community of Washington Township.
Its developers, Atkins Cos. and Woodmont Properties, announced Monday that Santucci’s Original Square Pizza has leased 2,620 square feet at Washington Square Town Center, while What’s The Scoop has agreed to take 1,980 square feet. The deals at 253-261 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road bring the development’s 20,000-square-foot retail component to 90 percent occupancy.
“We are excited to bring our seventh Santucci’s Original Square Pizza location to Washington Township, NJ,” said Alicia Santucci, president of the chain, which also has locations in Philadelphia and at the Jersey Shore. “Our growth is fueled by our passion for serving our signature products and becoming an integral part of every new community we serve. We look forward to our projected fall 2021 grand opening and welcoming all of the members of the Washington Township community to enjoy what makes Santucci’s so special.”
What’s The Scoop, an ice cream parlor concept, also plans to open its doors by the fall and will offer a menu that includes traditional and seasonal items and unique, limited edition desserts with a continuously changing menu of specials.
“With an emphasis on unique, homemade offerings that will be available for the community to enjoy year-round, What’s The Scoop will be much more than your average run-of-the-mill ice cream parlor,” said Stacy Valerio, owner and operator of What’s The Scoop. “I am thrilled to be opening What’s The Scoop in Washington Square Town Center later this year and look forward to sharing our delicious, handcrafted ice creams, water ice and novelties with the local community.”
Joe Raniszewski of MSC Retail represented Atkins in both transactions, while Greg Bianchi of US Realty Associates Inc., represented Santucci’s Original Square Pizza. The new tenants will join a growing list of commercial users at a site that also includes 330 apartments, 100 townhomes and an assisted living facility, along with a modern 40,000-square-foot medical office building anchored by Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.
Other retailers at the site include Bison Coffee Company, Strive Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation, PetCheck Animal Urgent Care and Lavish Nails & Spa, according to a news release. The property will also be home to Axia Women’s Health, which will occupy a 10,000-square-foot building that was originally slated to be additional retail space but converted to medical use in order to meet local demand.
In the final stages of construction, the multiphase project is on track to be fully completed by late this summer.
“As we wrap up the final stages of this visionary project, it is clear that we have created a much-desired community amenity here in Washington Township,” said Bob Atkins, managing partner of Atkins Cos. “The synergistic tenant mix together with the assisted living facility and multifamily component have created a unique multigenerational community at Washington Square Town Center that has garnered significant interest from medical and retail tenants alike, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to completing the final stages of construction and helping the newest tenants open their doors in the coming months.”
