Spencer Savings Bank has continued its partnership with Habitat for Humanity with two recent projects in the region and a donation to the organization’s Bergen County affiliate.
According to the Elmwood Park-based lender, employees volunteered their time and spent the day working on a construction project in Hillsdale that included spackling walls. Another group recently refinished furniture at the Habitat Bergen ReStore facility in Westwood.
Additionally, Spencer made a monetary donation of an undisclosed amount.
“We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity and help provide a ‘hand up’ to residents in our Bergen County community who have hopes of fulfilling their own homeownership dreams one day,” said Jose B. Guerrero, the bank’s chairman and CEO. “Owning a home is a big deal and wonderful for our New Jersey communities, in many ways. This organization makes it possible, providing community members who are in need with an opportunity to do so. We are very happy to help fulfill their mission.”
Spencer has partnered with Habitat for Humanity for more than two decades, donating almost $100,000 to the nonprofit during that time, while its employees have continually volunteered with the affordable housing organization.
