A new UFC Fitness concept has taken nearly 17,000 square feet at a Woodbridge shopping center, under a newly announced lease with Urban Edge Properties.
The landlord on Monday said the commitment by UFC FIT Club, which will occupy 16,810 square feet at The Plaza at Woodbridge, will be a first-to-market location and fill a vacancy created by the departure of Retro Fitness. The space on Route 1 will have a variety of mixed martial arts training programs and classes, incorporating techniques from disciplines such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing and kickboxing, as well as group fitness classes like Yoga, Pilates, Zumba and other functional fitness programs for all levels.
Additionally, the club will offer personal training and functional training areas for high-intensity interval training, circuit training and other performance-focused workouts, Urban Edge said. Meantime, youth programs will introduce kids to martial arts and promote physical fitness from a young age.
Joe Brendel and Glenn Beyer of Newmark represented UFC FIT Club, while Bill Oughton of NEV represented Urban Edge alongside the real estate investment trust’s Justin Lustig.
“Bringing a UFC FIT Club to this space delivers a significant upgrade in fitness offerings for the surrounding area,” said Lustig, vice president of leasing with Urban Edge. “The Plaza at Woodbridge already enjoys high daily traffic, and this new use will complement our existing anchors, drawing new visitors from an even wider area.”
Located across from the Woodbridge Center mall, The Plaza at Woodbridge is anchored by Best Buy, Raymour & Flanigan and Bed Bath & Beyond.
