A senior portfolio manager at Avison Young has moved to the firm’s New Jersey office, marking the latest addition to its growing team in the state.
According to a news release, Dennis Sherry will lead new business development initiatives for Avison Young’s property management group in the Garden State. He joined the firm in 2020 and has transferred from its New York office, where he served as a key contributor to the growth of its asset management service line in the market.
Sherry will continue to support projects across the entire tristate market, the firm said.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dennis to the Avison Young New Jersey team,” said Jeffrey Heller, an Avison Young principal and its managing director in New Jersey. “His experience and creative approach to overseeing portfolios will enhance the asset management services we provide to our clients. Creating and maintaining a best-in-class property management platform is critical for our office and Dennis’ track record, years of experience and industry leadership will help us grow this important service line.”
Sherry brings more than 20 years of experience in property and facilities management, including portfolio planning, development, due diligence, deal-sourcing and negotiations as well as asset management, the news release said. He has overseen over 30 million square feet of space spanning more than 100 properties throughout his career, with recent assignments including asset management for a partnership of Salmar Properties and Madison Capital, a renovated property in Union Square for Reading International and two new managed properties in Westchester County, New York, for Core Four Properties.
“I’m thrilled to join the Avison Young New Jersey office,” Sherry said. “I’ve seen firsthand the firm’s commitment to maintaining excellence at the properties within its portfolio over the last year while working in the New York office and look forward to leading future property management disciplines and growing the client base for the New Jersey team.”
Sherry has also overseen the Lehman Brothers portfolio of owned and leased properties across Manhattan for the Rockefeller Group and led CBRE’s asset services group, where he supported 15 property managers accountable for 22 commercial office properties across the New York City market, the news release said. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s in accounting and has completed master’s-level courses at New York University’s real estate program.
