Boutique law firm Bertone Piccini LLP has named two new partners whose practice areas include commercial real estate and related fields.
Based in Hasbrouck Heights, the firm on Tuesday announced the promotion of attorneys Richard G. Lyons and Sean R. McGowan. They have been with the practice since 2013 and 2017, respectively.
“Our new partners bolster Bertone Piccini’s ability to deliver smart, fast, effective solutions to clients. This includes Richard’s specialized corporate and health care knowledge and Sean’s redevelopment experience, largely unseen in the legal industry,” said Jeremy Piccini, a founding partner with the firm. “They provide the depth of knowledge, breadth of experience and responsive service that Bertone Piccini is recognized for — strengthening our firm and relationships with the business community.”
McGowan, who studied at Rutgers University and Seton Hall University School of Law, practices in areas such as redevelopment, land use planning and zoning, real estate transactions, commercial lending, landlord-tenant and general business representation, according to a news release. Prior to joining Bertone Piccini, he was vice president of development and legal affairs for a large, New Jersey-based commercial developer, where he oversaw the developments and entitlements for more than 2,000 multifamily residential units, retail and warehouse space.
“We aim to be as practical and effective as possible,” McGowan said. “We are not afraid to think outside of the box. Sometimes lawyers get bogged down in details and forget about the big picture. Here, we keep that singular focus, allowing for creative solutions that allow our clients to meet their ultimate goals.”
Lyons, who received his juris doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law, concentrates his practice in the areas of business and corporate transactions, commercial real estate, construction and health care, the news release said. His transactional focus includes commercial real estate leasing, acquisitions and dispositions.
“I couldn’t be happier to be recognized as a partner,” Lyons said. “We are extremely creative with our work and we remain value-driven and detail-oriented, which I honestly believe separates the firm.
“We pride ourselves in our practical responses to clients and they appreciate our ability to prioritize and empathize with them regardless of the situation. Our ongoing growth reflects this commitment.”
Since its founding in 2010 by Grace C. Bertone and Jeremy S. Piccini, the firm has grown to include 14 attorneys, focusing on practice areas including commercial real estate, corporate and business transactions, litigation, employment, estate planning and health care.
“We are thrilled to announce Richard and Sean as new partners at the firm, as they both bring a distinct work ethic and practical business knowledge to their roles,” Bertone said. “Our firm provides an exciting, stimulating and creative environment where talent and innovation are both recognized and rewarded. This announcement is simply an extension of that mission.”
