Modell’s Sporting Goods is relocating to a new logistics and distribution hub in Bordentown after an “exhaustive search” that spanned three states, according to brokers with CBRE.
The real estate services firm, which represented Modell’s, offered new details Friday about the retailer’s new 312,373-square-foot facility at 201 Old York Road. The sporting goods chain is leasing the space from Matrix Development Group and will occupy a little more than half of a newly built, 569,145-square-foot distribution center.
CBRE’s Bill Waxman, Mindy Lissner and Steven Beyda worked in tandem with Brett Weinblatt of Compass Commercial in representing Modell’s in the search and lease negotiations. CBRE’s Paul Touhey, Dan McGovern and Jake Terkanian also assisted in the space search.
“The transaction involved an exhaustive search throughout New Jersey, lower New York and Eastern Pennsylvania,” said Waxman, an executive vice president based in CBRE’s Saddle Brook office. “The building is a brand-new distribution facility that boasts the types of amenities that will allow Modell’s to improve its supply chain operations, deliver merchandise to the stores more efficiently, enhance its growing e-commerce business and position the company for future growth and exceptional service.”
Modell’s, which is relocating from a previous facility in the Bronx, will use the new space to fulfill its vast store network from New England to Washington, D.C. According to CBRE, the retailer is partnering with enVista, a leading global software solutions and consulting firm, to engineer and furnish its new facility.
The cross-docked Matrix Distribution Center in Bordentown features 36-foot clear heights, plentiful car and truck parking and easy access to interstates 295 and 195 and the Turnpike.
