Construction is underway on a project that will bring 66 new upscale apartments and retail space to the Morris County borough of Wharton.
CHA Partners, a Bloomfield-based developer, said the building at 10 North Main St. will feed off its location within the downtown and minutes from a host of retail, restaurant and service businesses. Occupancy is slated for summer 2022.
“We carefully select the municipalities where we develop and we believe we have found something truly special here in Wharton, a transit-oriented town with tons of character that will make for a great place to live for our new residents,” said William J. Colgan, CHA’s managing partner. “From the brick façade to the design elements throughout the lobby and corridors, we believe 10 N. Main will serve as a celebration of the beauty and aesthetic of Wharton’s rich history.”
CHA Partners joined local officials on Oct. 14 to mark the ongoing construction at the site. In a news release, the firm said the building will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom units with amenities such as a lobby with a coffee and beverage station, seating areas and a fireplace.
The property will have 83 parking spaces and four electric vehicle charging stations, the news release said. CHA added that it will position the ground-floor retail component as restaurant space, complementing the nearby coffee shop, bakery, pharmacy, barber shop and other businesses within the downtown.
The site is less than a mile south of Interstate 80 and minutes from routes 15 and 46. CHA also noted that commuters will have easy access to Lakeland bus service and NJ Transit’s Dover train station.
