A fitness operator has leased 6,100 square feet in the Journal Square section of Jersey City, Colliers International announced, marking the concept’s second location in the city.
The real estate services firm said Wednesday that Journal Square Health & Fitness, the gym that’s home to CrossFit Accomplished, has signed the 10-year lease for the entire building at 2800 Kennedy Blvd. Building renovations are underway, with the new fitness facility expected to open early next year.
The Colliers team of Executive Managing Director Nancy Erickson and Associate Jennifer Flores represented CrossFit Accomplished, which is known for its high-intensity fitness training. Bobby Antonicello of Grid Real Estate represented the landlord, while G3 Architects is handling architectural and interior design.
Erickson and Flores, both based in the firm’s Parsippany office, said they are exploring additional opportunities in Jersey City and throughout Hudson County.
“CrossFit Accomplished’s expansion in Jersey City reflects the tremendous popularity of the sport of fitness,” Erickson said. “There is a growing community of people interested in a fitness lifestyle, and CrossFit Accomplished continues to attract new members, so this was an opportune time for them to expand their reach and fill a need in this market.”
The three-story building, just three blocks from the Journal Square transportation center, follows CrossFit Accomplished’s first location in Jersey City at 109 Christopher Columbus Drive. Both affiliated gyms are owned by Russell Francis.
The new location will feature a dedicated gym for kids, a CrossFit Accomplished workout area on the main floor, a lounge and recovery room and physical therapy, according to a news release. In addition, the first floor will be a dedicated co-working and shared office space to provide a community for “like-minded entrepreneurs,” said Francis.
“We are really excited to bring CrossFit to Journal Square, and we’re looking forward to introducing to the community a different style of working out with measurable results, in a fun and engaging environment,” Francis said.
CrossFit Accomplished offers high-intensity functional group training sessions that attract people from all walks of life, the news release said. The program combines cardio, gymnastics and weightlifting movements into a workout of the day.
The fitness program includes classes in fundamentals, gymnastics, burn, strength and classes for kids ranging from five to 18 years old.
