Brookfield Properties is bringing more than 150,000 square feet of new industrial space to the Bergen County borough of Fair Lawn, with construction set to begin in the months ahead.
According to Peak Construction Corp., the project’s general contractor, activity is underway at the site of the planned Fair Lawn Logistics Center at 17-02 Nevins Road. The firm said the 9.24-acre parcel requires extensive demolition before construction starts on the speculative 155,010-square-foot building, which will have 36-foot clear ceiling heights, 16 dock doors and a 5,000-square-foot office space.
Completion is scheduled for May 2023, Peak said. The Rosemont, Illinois-based construction firm is working on the project alongside M+H Architects and Dynamic Engineering.
“The project is situated to service tenants around New York City and the northern New Jersey area with immediate access to the George Washington Bridge, Port of Newark-Elizabeth and the second-largest port in the country — all less than 10 miles away,” Brookfield wrote in a social media post early this year.
The activity comes just over a year after an affiliate of the firm purchased the site from Sandvik Inc., the steel and cemented carbide tool manufacturer, which had operated in the borough for decades. The site is about a quarter-mile from Route 208, providing connections to Route 4, the Garden State Parkway and other major highways.
