Laela Perkins has stepped into the role of executive director of the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit with connections to New Jersey’s commercial real estate industry.
In her new role with the organization, Perkins will lead strategic initiatives, spearhead fundraising efforts, manage partnerships and programs and ensure the effective stewardship of resources to advance its mission, according to a news release. She joins the group with deep expertise in nonprofit management, including decades of experience in fundraising, donor engagement, organizational impact and strategic planning, having most recently served as director of development at Montclair Kimberley Academy.
CBCF’s co-founder and treasurer is Andrew Abramson, CEO and president of the Clifton-based apartment owner and developer known as Value Cos.
“Laela brings the perfect blend of experience, vision and passion for mission-driven work,” Abramson said. “Her leadership in advancement and strategy will help position our organization for continued growth and even greater impact in the fight to cure breast cancer.”
Perkins has held positions or consulted with the World Science Festival, Boys Town New York and Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers, the news release said. In addition to her full-time roles, she has also taught independent school fundraising as a guest lecturer at Columbia University’s Klingenstein Center at Teachers College.
The Montclair resident is encouraging anyone interested in CBCF to get in touch to learn more, donate or volunteer.

The organization added that Perkins holds a bachelor’s in philosophy from Colorado College and a master of social work from Fordham University.
