An Elmwood Park shopping center is now fully leased after recent deals with a fitness operator and a national burger chain, brokers with Cushman & Wakefield said Tuesday.
The firm, which serves as the leasing agent for The Marketplace of Elmwood Park, announced that Anytime Fitness and BurgerIM committed to 5,700 and 1,880 square feet, respectively, at the property at 430 Market St. The long-term deals follow recent upgrades at the complex, including renovated storefronts and a modern façade.
C&W’s David Townes and Alana Friedman spearheaded the transactions on behalf of the landlord, Gerry Puccio of Maxim Realty Trust. Rob Runyan of Franchise Real Estate represented Anytime Fitness, while Blake Shanaphy and Marta Villa of JLL represented BurgerIM, an Israeli burger chain.
“This shopping center sits in the heart of a high-traffic, densely populated area,” Townes said. “More than 12,000 vehicles pass this location each day, and Market Street is an established local retail corridor — making The Marketplace of Elmwood Park an enviable, highly visible destination for national brands looking to grow their presence in northern New Jersey.”
Anytime Fitness’ new Elmwood Park facility will specialize in wellness, personal training and body conditioning, according to a news release. The operator has locations in all 50 states and is one of the world’s fastest-growing gym franchises, with 4,000 facilities globally.
BurgerIM, which means “multiple burgers” in Hebrew, is in the midst of expanding its chef-inspired hamburger chain, with a range of burgers made from Japanese wagyu beef, lamb, salmon and certified halal meat, the news release said. It has or is opening additional New Jersey locations in Englewood, Bergenfield, Cranford, Metuchen, Newark and Union.
Both chains will benefit from the center’s location near Garden State Parkway, Interstate 80, Route 46 and two commuter rail lines.
