Construction is underway on what will be 282 luxury condominiums in Weehawken, in a rare new addition to the iconic Port Imperial district along the Hudson River.
Its developer, WHK Waterfront Urban Renewal LLC, said it’s eyeing a summer 2026 delivery for the project at 1800 Avenue at Port Imperial. It broke ground recently alongside Plaza Construction, its general contractor, having secured $210 million in financing from the alternative asset management firm Benefit Street Partners.
The builder estimates the overall development cost to be just over $313 million.
“We are thrilled to introduce 1800, a new bar-setting building that boasts a unique design featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with curved edges throughout,” said David Wei, CEO of WHK Waterfront Urban Renewal. “The all-glass facade not only offers stunning panoramic views of the New York City skyline but also creates a modern and sleek aesthetic that sets this building apart from the rest. This project is poised to be a game-changer for not just the township but also the Hudson Palisades and the Hudson waterfront.”
Designed by Handel Architects, 1800 Avenue at Port Imperial will include 45,000 square feet of amenities such as a lounge, a spa, a fitness center, a half-basketball court, a multimedia room and others, according to a news release. Outdoor spaces will include a pool, dining and kitchen stations, a sun deck, a fire pit and lounge seating.
The for-sale project is coming to one of the few remaining parcels in Port Imperial, which spans 2.5 miles of waterfront in Weehawken and West New York. The master-planned district is home to more than 7,500 rental and for-sale apartments and townhomes, 150,000 square feet of retail space, two Marriott hotels and two public garages, along with more than 20 acres of public space including a two-mile riverfront walkway with views of the Manhattan skyline.
“We are proud to partner with the team at WHK Waterfront Urban Renewal LLC, and to collaborate with talented consulting professionals such as Handel Architects, DiSimone Consulting Engineering and Thomas Polise Consulting Engineers,” said Thomas D’Ercole, executive vice president and regional director of Plaza Construction. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to excellence, and we are excited to be a part of this exclusive development along the Weehawken waterfront.”
According to the developer, its financing package includes a senior loan of $157.5 million and a mezzanine loan of $52.5 million. Meantime, Christie’s International Real Estate Group is the property’s selling and marketing agent.
