A developer has opened the doors to a new 87-unit assisted living and memory care facility in the Marlton section of Evesham Township, according to architects with Meyer.
The Philadelphia-based design firm said the project, known as Arbor Terrace Marlton, spans 76,500 square feet across three stories. Located at 5 Executive Drive, the property includes 60 assisted living apartments, 27 memory care units and 15,000 square feet of amenity space such as a theater, a bistro, a salon, lounges, shared and private dining rooms and an outdoor garden and terrace overlooking a pond.
Meyer worked on behalf of the developer and owner, Capitol Seniors Housing.
“Arbor Terrace Marlton offers state-of-the-art services and amenities for Marlton’s senior community to feel engaged and connected,” said Dan King, a principal at Meyer. “We designed a place where seniors can thrive while also receiving the attention and care they deserve.”
In a news release, the firm said it provided comprehensive architecture and interior design services as well as furniture, fixture and equipment procurement for the project, which broke ground in April 2021. It worked in tandem with IMC Construction, the construction manager on the project, while noting that The Arbor Co. now operates the community.
“We worked closely with Capitol Seniors Housing, The Arbor Company and IMC to create vibrant layouts and interior environments that reflect the level of quality programming and entertainment available to residents of Arbor Terrace Marlton,” said Shannon Remaley, also a principal at Meyer. She worked alongside a team that also included project managers Paul Butala and Min Yi Park and Senior Architect Wayne Egolf.
The community’s exterior draws inspiration from the traditional colonial architecture style found across South Jersey, using stone, horizontal siding and ornamental detailing to provide a grand sense of place for residents, the news release said. Large, forward-facing gables, elegantly trimmed corner pilasters, roof dormers and chimneys also add to the classic style of the main building façade, Meyer said, while the community’s interior color palette is inspired by marl clay, a type of clay commonly found in the local Marlton area soil.
“We are thrilled to partner with Meyer, IMC Construction and Capitol Seniors Housing in opening the doors to Arbor Terrace Marlton,” said Judd Harper, president of The Arbor Co. “This beautiful new community will help meet the needs of the state’s growing senior population and provide them with best-in-class living and care options.”
Other project team members included MEP engineer Concord Engineering, structural engineer Bala Consulting Engineers and landscape architect Longstone Gardens.
“Due to its location on a wetlands preserve, Arbor Terrace Marlton required extensive preconstruction planning and communication with our partners at Meyer, The Arbor Company and Capitol Seniors Housing,” said Michael Lloyd, president at IMC Construction. “Despite the challenge, our teams were able to deliver a high-quality, luxury senior living community for the Marlton community on time and within budget.”
Joseph McElwee, principal for development at Capitol Seniors Housing, added: “We are excited to provide seniors in New Jersey with a state-of-the-art assisted living community where the residents and their family members can feel comfortable and connected. Each of our partners, including Meyer, The Arbor Company and IMC Construction, helped us to bring this incredible community to life.”
