A new SB One banking center at a luxury condominium complex in Weehawken has celebrated its opening with a community event and ribbon-cutting.
Designed by DMR Architects, the new store has opened its doors within The Avenue Collection at Port Imperial. In touting the project, the Hasbrouck Heights-based firm said the center is meant to offer a more personal banking experience for its neighbors in the communities it serves with private, intimate spaces.
The design also calls for inspiring collaboration between employees and customers without the separation by counters, desks and glass windows that are seen in more traditional banking layouts, DMR said. The new concept includes half-moon meeting booths with high-end finishes to provide a luxury retail experience in a private and comfortable environment for the customers providing personal information.

“At SB One Bank, we understand that each customer’s needs are not only unique but they require a personal touch,” said Vito Giannola, senior executive vice president and chief banking officer for SB One Bank, formerly Sussex Bank. “This branch design allows us to embrace technology and integrate personalized service.”
DMR also placed the bank’s conference room at the corner of The Avenue at Port Imperial and City View Drive so meeting participants can enjoy a view of the Hudson River and the New York City skyline.
“Online banking and ATM machines are convenient for the quick transactions, but a kiosk can’t provide the personal attention that people need from their financial institution,” said Lloyd Rosenberg, CEO and president of DMR Architects.
