Online food delivery platform DoorDash has leased 12,000 square feet of industrial space in Fair Lawn, brokers with NAI James E. Hanson announced Thursday.
According to the leasing team, the company will use the site at 15-01 Pollitt Drive to store and deliver items through its DashMart service. The deal provides DoorDash with warehouse space in the heart of northern New Jersey for the virtual convenience offering, which sells more than 3,500 convenience, grocery and restaurant items per store on average, including everything from fresh and frozen grocery staples to household essentials, pet food, snacks, ready-made restaurant meals and packaged spices and rubs.
NAI Hanson’s Darren Lizzack and Randy Horning represented 1501 Pollitt Drive LLC, the landlord at the 126,000-square-foot building, while Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant.
“This deal further underscores the high demand for industrial warehouse distribution facilities like 15-01 Pollitt,” Lizzack said. “The northern New Jersey industrial market continues to be one of the most sought-after locations for distribution companies looking to reap the benefits of both the New York City and Bergen County markets, and we are thrilled to work with DoorDash to help them secure space well-suited to their continued growth.”
In a news release, NAI Hanson noted that DoorDash has grown to work with 1 million drivers representing 450,000 merchants, serving 20 million consumers in 2020 alone. The launch of DashMart has created the need for warehouse space in major markets such as Chicago, Dallas and Phoenix, along with locations in the New York City area.
The Fair Lawn facility provides it with quick access to Interstate 80, Route 208 and the Garden State Parkway.
