Eastern Union Funding has named a new chief sales and operating officer, tapping a 25-year veteran of the lending and investment sales sector to fill the position.
The firm, which is co-headquartered in Howell, announced that it hired Mark Schnurman to provide day-to-day management of the company’s brokers, underwriters and operational teams. He will focus on recruiting and driving the use of an advanced data-driven platform that Eastern Union uses to secure optimal financing for clients.
Schnurman joins Eastern Union from Eastern Consolidated, where he served as chief sales officer for five years. During that time, he was involved in broker management, recruitment and training that was instrumental in the firm’s increase in sales volume, revenue diversification and profitability, according to a news release.
“Mark has a proven track record in developing real estate and financial services organizations, propelling businesses to new heights,” said Ira Zlotowitz, president of Eastern Union. “We are thrilled to have him on board as we continue to grow our business to record-breaking levels.”
Schnurman has also served as executive vice president of business development and human resources at GFI Capital Resources Group, the news release said. Prior to that, he worked at Wachovia Securities as senior vice president and director of professional development, a role in which he developed and executed a sales force plan across various divisions.
“I am excited to join Eastern Union, a firm with energy, a collaborative culture and a clear, long-term vision,” Schnurman said. “The confluence of Ira Zlotowitz’s leadership, young and dynamic broker talent, and the firm’s cutting-edge use of data and technology, creates unique opportunities for intelligent and rapid growth.”
Schnurman began his career with Morgan Stanley in 1995, first as a management training associate and later as financial adviser. He graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s in labor studies and earned his J.D. from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
