Longtime developer Christiana Foglio has joined the Mercer County Improvement Authority, marking her latest stint at the agency and her latest post in the public sector.
Foglio, founder and CEO of Community Investment Strategies Inc., assumes the commissioner role with more than 40 years of experience as a senior and affordable housing builder and a government official. Among other posts, she is a former executive director of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, where she was responsible for financing more than $1 billion in multifamily bonds and creating the state’s housing policy, having also chaired the state Council on Affordable Housing.
CIS noted that the appointment is her second to the MCIA. She’s also a former commissioner of the Middlesex County Improvement Authority.
“Thank you to our Mercer County executive, Dan Benson for the honor to serve the board of MCIA again,” Foglio said. “I am excited to support the mission of the MCIA by providing programs and services for the county, municipalities, school and fire districts and not-for-profits in the areas of financing, project management redevelopment, solid waste and recycling.”
Foglio is also the former president of the not-for-profit New Brunswick Development Corp., CIS said, noting that she is credited with launching the city’s economic rebirth through implementing $300 million in urban renewal projects.
