Where, when or how was Mike McGuinness most impactful as a leader during his 25+ years as NAIOP New Jersey CEO?
Gretchen Wilcox
President
G.S. Wilcox & Co.
Mike is a thoughtful and strong, yet gentle, leader who has worked tirelessly for NAIOP and our state’s commercial real estate industry as a whole. He is extremely thorough and has a unique gift of successfully working with Trenton through several administrations on both sides of the aisle. He also forged such a strong bond and working relationship with the trustees and membership of NAIOP with many different executive teams.
What was a strength or quality that has made Mike effective and allowed him to thrive for so long with NAIOP?
Peter Bronsnick
Executive Director/New Jersey Managing Principal
Cushman & Wakefield
Mike has an uncanny talent and ability to put the right people in the right positions (when it comes to the association’s volunteer board). He was always very thoughtful about who was going to be in those chairs and how it was going to further the objectives of NAIOP, of which there are many, and I think that leaders put good people around them and in positions for them and their organization to thrive.
How did the chapter change for the better during Mike’s tenure?
Michael Seeve
President
Mountain Development Corp.
In every way. The chapter is larger, more effective, more cohesive, undertakes more projects, touches more developers, employers, towns, cities and projects and has, for the state, done its part to enable more clean ratables for the benefits of schools, communities and taxpayers than one would ever have dreamed possible when first Mike started. It’s a tremendous legacy.
What has separated Mike from other CEOs and leaders of key organizations?
Jeff Milanaik
Northeast Region Partner
Bridge Industrial
He just comes across as thoughtful, well-learned, as a strong resource and very credible when it comes to being relied upon by legislators and other outside professionals.
He has improved the brand of NAIOP to the point where credibility is so strong and we’re listened to on things. And we’re not one-sided in the way we approach any of the issues — we always strive for the win-wins.
