An importer has leased more than 132,000 square feet of industrial space in Woodbridge, where it will remain for about a year until the completion of a new warehouse in North Brunswick.
Colliers International this week announced the lease with Achim Importing Co., a firm that has been in temporary space since a fire destroyed its warehouse two years ago. After subleasing a space in Cranbury for the past two years, the company is now set to occupy 132,300 square feet at 19 Crows Mill Road, located in the Keasbey section of Woodbridge.
Michael G. Markey, executive managing director with Colliers, represented Achim in partnership with Jon Tesser and Troy Skibitsky of the firm’s Woodbridge office. Colliers has represented the importer since the fire in July 2015, which tore through its 600,000-square-foot distribution facility along Route 1 in North Brunswick.
The company’s new facility is now under construction in the township and is expected to be complete within a year, Colliers said.
“We have maintained a relationship with Achim,” Markey said, “so we knew their situation and were able to find them the space they needed in an extremely tight market where most landlords are not interested in short-term leases because they are trying to capitalize on the strong lease rates.”
