Miles Berger, CEO of Berger Organization in Newark, was honored recently as an Individual of Excellence by Downtown New Jersey in recognition of his leadership and dedication to downtown development.
The award was presented at the Downtown New Jersey conference on Oct. 12 at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in South Orange. Robert Goldsmith of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP, the organization’s board president, presented the award to former Newark councilman Calvin West, who accepted the award on Berger’s behalf.
Berger has spearheaded his company’s investment in Newark for the past 40 years, fostering the city’s revitalization as a major business hub and travel destination, according to a news release. The real estate firm’s portfolio includes 2 million square feet of office space and hospitality properties, the majority of which is in Newark’s central business district.
Berger also is directly involved with nonprofit organizations and business associations in the city, supporting important work that benefits the Newark community.
Downtown New Jersey acts as an advocate for downtown commercial districts in New Jersey, comprising individuals, businesses, government agencies and local and regional organizations.
