A buyer has paid more than $4.4 million for a penthouse in Jersey City, breaking a previous record set at the same newly completed high-rise along the Hudson waterfront.
The 79-story tower, 99 Hudson, hit the market in 2019 and subsequently opened as the state’s tallest residential building. Its developer and sales team announced in April that a 75th-floor penthouse had sold for $3.9 million, setting a high watermark at the time for a condo closing in Jersey City.
That record is no more, following this week’s announcement that the largest penthouse in the building is now off the market. The east-facing, 76th-floor dwelling, which spans 2,500 square feet and an additional 655 square feet of outdoor terrace space, fetched nearly $4.5 million.
“The recent penthouse closings, combined with the robust sales activity we’ve achieved across the spectrum at 99 Hudson, speaks volumes about the appeal of this extraordinary residential building and the confidence buyers have in its enduring quality and value,” said Jacqueline Urgo, president of The Marketing Directors. “It’s a unique property in terms of height, views, lifestyle amenities and location, and buyers are responding.”
Designed by Perkins Eastman, with sweeping views of New York City, 99 Hudson boasts upscale interiors and 65,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space. Those areas include an eighth-floor deck with an 80-foot-by-50-foot swimming pool, cabanas and dining areas, along with features such as a residents-only spa, a modern 3,800-square-foot fitness center and a host of social spaces.
The high-rise is also steps from the Exchange Place PATH station and NY Waterway ferry service, along with the adjacent light rail station. Also nearby is Newark Avenue, a hub for dining, and a host of options for recreation.
Pricing ranges from $548,000 to more than $4 million.
