A new 169-unit apartment tower in Jersey City is more than 50 percent leased, its developers said, touting renters’ continued interest in the resurgent Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood.
Known as Atlas, the property at 270 Johnston Ave. hit the market earlier this year as part of a project by Alpine Residential and Fields Grade. The developers are offering a mix of luxury homes ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, as well as upscale amenities and access to Bergen-Lafayette’s vibrant art scene, walkability and mix of restaurants, shops and parks.
Monthly rents start from $2,679 with incentives.
“We’ve always believed in the untapped potential of Bergen Lafayette,” said Todd Schefler, managing partner of Alpine Residential. “With the success we have experienced to date, it’s clear the public believes in this neighborhood too. To lease this many homes — this quickly — speaks volumes about the interest in the location, residences and overall lifestyle we are offering at Atlas.”
MHS Architecture designed the 24-story project, which has interiors by GRT Architecture and is the tallest building in Bergen-Lafayette. It’s also the developers’ latest venture in the historic neighborhood, while the Alpine affiliate South Oxford Management is managing the property.
Amenities include a high-end fitness center with Cross-Fit equipment, coworking spaces with private offices and a 24th-floor space with views of the Manhattan skyline and perks such as a communal kitchen, a game room and a sky lounge, according to a news release. Outdoors, residents have access to a landscaped roof deck with grilling stations, dining areas and a plunge pool.
The pet-friendly, smoke-free property also has on-site parking, bike storage and TULU, an on-demand smart rental store for household and lifestyle products, as well as ground-level retail space that will house Eggs Up, a bagel cafe. Renters, meantime, are just west of downtown Jersey City and minutes from Liberty State Park’s more than 1,200 acres of open space and other offerings, as well as NJ Transit’s Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.
