Robert C. Kossar
By Joshua Burd
United Way of Northern New Jersey will honor JLL’s Rob Kossar next month at an annual fundraiser that draws hundreds of commercial real estate industry leaders, where the organization will also celebrate top projects in multiple asset classes.
Kossar, a vice chairman and head of JLL’s Northeast industrial region, will headline the May 9 event in Randolph as the chapter’s Spirit of Philanthropy Award recipient. He’ll do so as a longtime United Way partner in raising both crucial funds and awareness to help children and families living paycheck to paycheck, supporting the organization’s mission and that of the Commercial Real Estate Committee that has hosts the popular networking luncheon.
The 26th annual United Way Legacy Event at The Meadow Wood will also recognize two projects with its Impact Awards, highlighting those that have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the economic and community landscape of northern New Jersey over the past year. This year’s finalists include:
Commercial:
- Hackensack Meridian Health and Wellness Center at Metropark (1 Wellbrook Place, Woodbridge)
- L’Oreal Research & Innovation Center (100 Terminal Ave., Clark)
- Northeast Sciences and Technology Center (2000 Galloping Hill Road, Kenilworth)
- Nokia Bell Labs headquarters at The HELIX (French Street, New Brunswick)
Industrial:
- Arsenal Trade Center (99 Callahan Blvd., Parlin)
- Crow Holdings at Carteret (300, 400, 500 Salt Meadow Road, Carteret)
Finalists are selected by Commercial Real Estate Committee members who partner with United Way year-round in support of removing barriers to financial stability for the so-called ALICE households, an acronym for asset-limited, income-constrained and employed. The organization noted that, since 2000, the commercial real estate industry has helped raise more than $4.5 million for United Way thanks in large part to the Legacy Event.
This year’s gold sponsors are Alston Construction, Crow Holdings Development, Turner Construction Co. and WB Wood.
