K. Hovnanian Homes is taking the wraps off a new development that will bring 460 luxury townhomes to a site about three miles from downtown Montclair.
The homebuilder announced last week that it was preparing to launch preconstruction sales for the community, known as Hilltop at Cedar Grove, which sits along Fairview Avenue in Cedar Grove. In doing so, it touted the inclusion of forward-thinking amenities and common spaces, including a co-working café and a communal kitchen, against a rustic backdrop.
“Hilltop at Cedar Grove will incorporate everything that makes suburban new-construction living attractive,” said Alexander Hovnanian, the company’s division president. “At the same time, this will not be your typical suburban community. We’re focusing on amenities, communal spaces and design that will radiate a warm, socially engaging atmosphere more typically associated with the modern urban lifestyle.
“We believe there’s a rising desire for residents to connect more to their spaces, to connect to each other more, and to move in the direction of a community. That’s what we’re striving for, to provide a better experience.”
Along with its proximity to downtown Montclair, Hovnanian highlighted the property’s natural, wooded landscape. The company and its interior designer, Kari McCabe, have sought to capture that backdrop in developing a central amenity building known as the Main House.
The space includes an outdoor infinity edge pool, a garden dining and deck area and a fitness center, along with offerings such as a co-working café, communal kitchen and dining areas, according to a news release. Other amenities include a library and study.
The townhomes at Hilltop at Cedar Grove will offer up to 3,047 square feet of living space, the news release said, each with high-end interiors and finishes. Residents will also have access to nearby offerings such as the Hilltop Reservation, a protected nature preserve on the Watchung Mountains, plus the three-mile West Essex Trail and the 77-acre Cedar Grove Park.
Meantime, the community will offer daily express jitney service to NJ Transit’s Upper Montclair train station, allowing residents to access rail service to Manhattan without using their car. The property is also minutes from the Garden State Parkway, Route 46 and interstates 280 and 80.
